The company Pflanzelt, based in Eastern Allgäu, Bavaria Germany, presented the 36th generation of its PM TRAC tow tractor as part of its forstARENA days. Optically little changed, it is the technical innovations with which the new model shines. Particularly worth mentioning: the continuously variable and power-split variaDRIVE transmission developed in-house for optimal use both in the forest and on the road.
The PM TRAC is powered by a 6-cylinder turbo diesel. Optionally with 181hp (133kW) or 237hp (174kW). The tank contains 400l of diesel fuel. An electric variant as an electric tow tractor has not yet been announced. Since it is primarily used in the forest, an electric variant will probably have to wait until the batteries last a whole shift or there is a solution for an interchangeable battery system.
The hydraulic system works with 210bar at 160l/min and is load-sensing controlled. The electronics are controlled via a central CAN bus.
